Alphabetti styletti

I like lists; shopping lists, to-do lists, christmas lists etc etc, you get it. To keep up with my need to make lists about almost everything, here is my own alphabetical rundown for the new season. Enjoy!
Action girl - Why not channel your inner adventurer with military inspired pieces, and toughen up those end of summer dresses with leather boots and this seasons aviator style. Also ankle boots, A line skirts.
Belt up - Accentuate your figure and add detail with an interesting belt; thin, chunky, waisted, tied, use different styles to bring an outfit together. Also Biba at House of Fraser, blushing cheeks.
Capes - They're everywhere. Go traditional with a longer length style to keep you warm, or find a cropped design with collar details and even a faux fur trim. Also cross-body bags, cotton basics.
Don the denim - It's still as wearable as ever, so try denim shirts tucked into smart trousers, or keep that jacket out for slightly warmer days. Also Duffle style, diy fashion.
Experiment! - Have fun with your style, and don't be afraid to try something different. If you feel comfortable with a certain look mix it up with new accessories, don't be afraid, be individual. Also eyeliner, eclectic English design.
Folk - Update the grunge look to be more feminine and folky; earthy tones, embroidery and longer length skirts are a good way to start. Also fantasy shoes, autumn/winter florals.
Grey - I just love grey, it's such a nice alternative to black. Too much can be a bit drab, but dress it up with quirky accessories or keep it simple with a cardigan. Also gold, girls night.
Hand me downs - There is something quite nice about having a swapping session with friends and relatives. Organise an afternoon to get together and come away with some new (but old) pieces tomake your own. Also hats, Harry Potter.
Imagine - yourself as relaxed but confident, and whatever you wear you'll look great; be happy with your style. Also Icelandic style, internet shopping.
Just jackets - Whether it's a tuxedo style, cropped, full-length, tough and masculine or pretty and ladylike, a good jacket will bring your outfit together (and keep out the cold). Also January Jones, perfect jeans.
Knitwear - There's nothing bad that can be said about a the humble cardigan; go for cable knit style and wooly accessories. Also nice knickers.
Lovely long skirts - Swap the mini for a longer length this autumn, and go for ladylike or grungy glamour, it's up to you how you wear it. Also loafers, leather, lace.
Mix and match, mismatch - Prints, block colour, basics, tailored, texture. Bring lots of different elements together and come up with something really unique. Also mysterious, maroon.
Nonchalance - (Of a person or manner) feeling or appearing casually calm and relaxed. There's no need to worry too much about your style, go with your instincts and be cool as a cucumber. Also nostalgia, navy.
Out there - Stuck for inspiration? In need of ideas? Go for a walk about town and get out there. Go people watching, take street style photos or just refresh your mind about own personal style. Also off-piste style, opposites attract.
Preppy pretty - School is back in session, so pack up your books in a classic satchel and smarten up your outfits for the new term. Also winter prints, purple.
Quilting - Invest in a quilted jacket to get the equestrian look sorted, or a classic quilted bag to hold all your bits and bobs. Also quirky style, quality time.
Red - Ruby, wine, scarlet, crimson, it's a warm wintery colour and looks great with a Fair Isle pattern. Very seasonal. Also relaxed, rings and things.
Snazzy socks - They keep your feet (and legs) warm, and work as a great alternative to tights, so slip on some cute socks to update your look. Also shearling, sightseeing.
Tasty talons - A simple way to alter your look is to change your nail colour. Go for berry shades or a classic manicure style, it'll make your hands stand out. Also trousers, time-keeping, tea.
Underwear - Invest in some new undergarments and they'll be your best kept secret. Also understated glamour.
Velvet - I'm coming around to the little luxury that is velvet; look for a well cut dress in the classic fabric to get you through the party season. Also voluminous hair, vintage.
Waistcoats - Still a firm favourite of mine; I'll be hunting for different textures and waistcoats that can dress up a more casual outfit. Also waspy waists, well groomed.
Extra special - If there's something you've seen that you love, but is maybe a little out of your price range, do try to save up for it and treat yourself. You'll appreciate it all the more.
Say yes - Positivity is a great way to beat the winter blues, so see yourself as an enthusiastic, worthwhile person and you'll make yourself and those around you feel better. Also yeasayer, yarn and thread.
Zippers - Exposed zips are a small detail that can make a big difference to everyday items, so try to mix them into you look. Also zeitgeist, zesty.
